You’d think a town famous for lavender would be content to just, well, smell nice. But Sequim refuses to be a one-note show, and honestly, the sheer volume of stuff to do here is frankly exhausting in the best way.

Between the slobbery chaos of feeding bison at the Game Farm and the serene, hammock-approved calm of Sequim Bay State Park, you can squeeze in a full weekend without ever repeating a vibe. I’ve personally ruined a shirt at Graysmarsh Berry Farm and then bought watercolor prints at Blue Whole Gallery, so consider my credentials earned.

The trick is to embrace the weird mix of farm-fresh butter and pioneer history, then let the Olympic Peninsula wind sort out your priorities. Scroll on and pick your own adventure.

Sequim Lavender Festival

Sequim Lavender Festival
Highlights
Big, fun production
Great music variety
New local vendors
Tasty food court

I showed up expecting a few tents and maybe some free samples, and instead found a full-blown production with a ferris wheel vibe and a soundtrack of live bands that actually made me want to hang around. The music variety is legit, from folk to funk, and the new local vendors keep things fresh, like that guy selling lavender-infused honey who clearly had a passion for bees. The food court is dangerously tasty, so come hungry and leave with a pocket full of lavender shortbread crumbs. Just pace yourself, because I ate my weight in scones and then had to sit in the car for twenty minutes. Worth every second of shame.

Reasonably-priced local art
Friendly, welcoming staff
Diverse mediums and artists
Impressive watercolor mountain prints
Best prices for talent

I walked into Blue Whole Gallery expecting to browse, but the friendly staff had me chatting about watercolor techniques before I knew what hit me. The art is reasonably priced, which feels like a miracle in a tourist town, and the diverse mediums mean you'll find everything from pottery to photography to prints that would make your aunt cry happy tears. Those mountain watercolor prints are the real deal, sharp and moody without being pretentious. For the talent on display, the prices are honestly the best I've seen, so I bought a small piece and now my living room looks ten percent smarter. Bring a budget, but don't worry, it'll stretch.

Stunning flower beds everywhere
Serene walks for dogs
Historic cemetery worth peeking
Perfect picnic reading spots

I took my dog to Pioneer Memorial Park for a quick walk and ended up staying two hours because the flower beds are so stunning I kept stopping to take photos like a tourist in my own town. The paths are serene, perfect for a slow stroll with a pup who insists on sniffing every rose, and the historic cemetery adds a quiet, contemplative vibe that's surprisingly peaceful. I found a bench under a big maple, cracked open a book, and lost an afternoon to the breeze and the birds. It's the kind of place where you forget your to-do list and just exist. Bring a picnic, or at least a water bottle, and let the calm do its thing.

Highlights
Free and quick visit
Passionate local volunteer guides
Unique antique vehicle collection
Clean facilities with parking
Rich regional photo archives

Sequim Museum & Arts is free, which already makes it a win, but the real treasure is the volunteers, who are so passionate they'll talk your ear off about the town's logging days and then show you a vintage car collection that looks like it rolled out of a time capsule. The antique vehicles are the star, but the photo archives are a rabbit hole, full of grainy shots that make you feel like a detective piecing together Sequim's past. It's a quick visit, maybe an hour if you're thorough, and the facilities are spotless with easy parking, so it's a low-effort, high-reward stop. I left feeling like I actually knew the place, not just the lavender.

Town rose from mud
Fascinating local history
Quirky downtown spots
Knowledgeable guides included
Great for repeat visits

I booked the Port Angeles Underground & Heritage Tour expecting a cheesy ghost walk, but instead got a fascinating deep dive into how this town rose from literal mud. Our guide knew every quirky detail, from the old saloons to the hidden passageways, and the story of the Great Fire is wilder than any fiction. You'll see downtown spots you'd walk past a hundred times without noticing, like a staircase that leads to nowhere and a storefront that used to be a brothel. The guides are knowledgeable and clearly love this place, so even on repeat visits you'll learn something new. Bring your curiosity and a willingness to crouch through low tunnels.

Highlights
Friendly staff, great first stop
Helpful local suggestions
Cool, loud souvenir hats
Free pamphlets for exploring

The Sequim Visitor Information Center is the best first stop, not just because the staff are genuinely friendly, but because they'll hand you a free pamphlet and then point you to a hole-in-the-wall taco place that isn't in any guidebook. The souvenirs are delightfully loud, especially the hats, which I tried on and immediately regretted because they made me look like a tourist, but I bought one anyway. The suggestions are spot-on, from hiking trails to hidden viewpoints, and they'll even warn you about the wind. It's small, but it's packed with utility and a dash of charm. Go early, grab your map, and let them save you from aimless wandering.

Highlights
Feed animals from your car
Buy extra bread, go early
Laughing, slobber, and chaos
Safe for cars, just messy
Great for kids and adults

Olympic Game Farm is pure controlled chaos, and I loved every slobbery second of it. You buy a loaf of bread, roll down your window, and suddenly a bison's head is inside your car, breathing warm air and demanding carbs. The animals are pushy and hilarious, and yes, they will slobber on your dashboard, but that's half the fun. Go early to beat the crowds and buy extra bread, because you'll run out way faster than you think, and the animals will judge you. It's safe, the car stays intact, just messy, and both kids and adults will be giggling like fools. Bring towels and a sense of adventure.

Biker/hiker sites near trail
Fire pits and tables per site
Hammock-friendly tree spacing

Sequim Bay State Park is the campground of my dreams, clean, safe, and family-friendly with fire pits and picnic tables at every site. The real gem is the direct access to the Olympic Discovery Trail, which made me feel like a rugged cyclist for a solid hour before I turned around and came back for a nap. The biker and hiker sites are tucked right near the trail, so you can roll out of your tent and onto the path without a fuss. The trees are spaced just right for hammocks, which I tested with excessive enthusiasm, and the bay views are the kind that make you forget your phone. I'm already planning my next trip back.

Highlights
Cut your own lavender
Shop lavender lotions, sprays
Watch bees, chickens, cows
Friendly owners, welcoming visit
Beautiful, serene photo spots

Purple Haze Lavender Farm is the kind of place where you'll spend an hour cutting your own lavender, and then another hour just watching the bees work their magic. The owners are so welcoming they made me feel like a neighbor, not a customer, and they'll let you wander through the rows with clippers and a rubber band, which is surprisingly therapeutic. The shop is stocked with lotions and sprays that smell like heaven, and the farm animals, chickens and cows, add a farmyard soundtrack that's oddly soothing. The photo spots are serene, with purple rows stretching to the horizon, so bring your camera and a patient friend. I left smelling like a spa and feeling like a farmer.

Highlights
Check bloom dates first
Meet wonderfully unique people
Find one-of-a-kind gifts

The Sequim Lavender Trail isn't a single spot, it's a choose-your-own-adventure that rewards a little homework. Check the bloom dates first, because showing up in June means you'll see green bushes and sad, bare stems, but in July, the trail turns into a purple wonderland. You'll meet wonderfully unique people at each farm, from a beekeeper who named every hive to a retired florist who gave me a free sachet and a life story. The gifts are one-of-a-kind, like lavender-infused bath salts or hand-painted signs, and you'll find something you didn't know you needed. It's a slow, scenic drive with stops that feel personal. Just don't rush it.

Highlights
Smooth bike trail rides
Large, well-kept parking
Friendly trail community
Beautiful riverside scenery

Railroad Bridge Park is my go-to for a smooth, soul-clearing bike ride, because the trail is so well-maintained I could ride with one hand and hold a coffee in the other, which I absolutely did. The parking lot is huge and kept clean, so no mud or potholes, and the trail community is friendly, with nods and hellos from every passerby. The riverside scenery is the real draw, with the old railroad bridge offering a perfect photo op and the Dungeness River babbling along beside you. I sat on a bench for twenty minutes just watching the water, and it was the best part of my week. Bring a snack and enjoy the quiet.

Graysmarsh Berry Farm

Graysmarsh Berry Farm
Highlights
Family-friendly u-pick fun
Ripe berries, easy picking
Tall raspberry rows save backs
Beautiful lavender fields nearby
Affordable outing year after year

Graysmarsh Berry Farm is the U-pick experience that keeps me coming back year after year, mostly because the berries are so ripe they practically fall off the bush. The tall raspberry rows are a godsend for my aging back, so I can pick without stooping, and the kids in our group had a blast filling their buckets with more in their mouths. The lavender fields nearby are a bonus, adding a purple backdrop to the green rows, and the whole outing is surprisingly affordable. The staff are laid-back and let you take your time, which is good because I lost track of time and picked three pounds when I only needed one. It's a sweet, simple way to spend a morning.
